Secondhand Wedding Shopping

I recently had the delight to discover a secondhand furniture store, with lots of rooms on the main floor to explore – all tastefully arranged with their pieces.  I LOVE unplanned shopping trips like this – in the kind of store you fancy, not knowing exactly what you will find.  Although it is a furniture store, there was plenty of decor to go with everything.  Well, that decor used may just be PERFECT for your event – at a bargain price.  Most secondhand furniture places have a smaller section in the front with kitchen stuff, glass vases, candles, frames, etc.  This is the place to check out!

I spy with my little eyes:  centerpieces, frames, items for the sweetheart table, and all sorts of useful decor.  All those frames can be painted to match your decor.  See my post Picture Frames: Seating Assignments and Favors for ideas using frames.

Placed in three different areas are very similar glass candle holders – eleven total.  Those could be your centerpieces – just replace the pillar candles so they all match (see Amazon to buy a set of 12 or 24).  Run them through your dishwasher and they will look brand new.  If they are not EXACTLY the same height and width – who cares?  Do you think your guests are really going to notice that one table’s glass vase is one inch shorter than the other?  Um, NO.  You could leave the centerpieces as such, but a nice ring of flowers or greenery would be perfect.

Need trays for cupcakes or goodies on a dessert table?  Check out these simple, rectangular ones that would go with any theme.  Not enough?  Buy some square ones to match at Wal-Mart or Target.

These next few are not wedding material (but could be? haha), but I just wanted to show the uniqueness of the place!  So cool to browse around!  You never know what you will see.  Did you notice the cute flower pot? Wouldn’t that look cute on the guestbook table?  My guess is that it is less than $5.00.

I love that my mind just gets flooded with ideas anytime I walk through a place like this.

I saw this wine rack below and thought, what a great way to display wine bottles to give to your guests.  The rack holds 36 bottles of wine.  This could be tricky if your venue is also doing the catering.  Wine may need to be purchased from them.

The white shelves can be painted to match your wedding color or can be adorned with crystals, pearls, or whatever your heart desires.  The shelf rows can be stenciled with your important dates (first date, engagement date, wedding date, etc.).  Decals can be found on Amazon for just about anything.  For a final touch, tie a ribbon around each bottle with a thank you tag.  Fabric draped on the top and down the sides would look amazing.

After checking out every inch of the floor, I was surprised to find a whole basement full of more finds.  Heading down I saw this cute cubby on the wall holding a tape measure, paper, and a calculator.  How freaking smart!  These people know what they are doing.
