Candlelight: an Alternative to Flowers

Nothing as simple as a lit candle can add so much ambiance to your wedding.  Candlelight isn’t tacky, over the top, expensive or overbearing.  It is ELEGANT and INTIMATE.  Do you know how much money you could save having a simple candle centerpiece vs a floral one?  A LOT….like, hundreds.  Sure, you can still add flowers, but not devote a huge portion of your budget on decor.  Floral centerpieces can easily go for $50-$100 per table.  I get that you may still want fresh flowers for your bouquet, but let’s not break the bank when you don’t have to give up elegance.  You can still add some flowers to the table, maybe a few stems or baby’s breath in some smaller vases.

The possibilities are endless.  If you are worried about losing the fragrance and effect of fresh flowers, have your coordinator (if your venue comes with one) or a friend spray some essential oil mixes with water on each table.  You can even get the exact essential oil of your chosen flower type(s).  Want the place to smell like lavender, you can make that happen without real lavender flowers.  I don’t recommend getting scented candles as they are way more expensive.  Also, I would put as many votive candles on the tables as the venue allows.  Put them everywhere….the bar, the seating assignment table, gift table, guest book table and even in the bathrooms.  You can never have too many candles.
