Promise To Your Pet

He met you first. She loved you long before he did. Dog of Honor. Flower Beast. My Mom said Yes. Bride’s Best Bitch. I do, too. There are many ways to honor your pup (all dogs are pups forever).  Also applies to cats, but as a cat person you know it is only on their terms.

Here are ways to Honor your Dog on your Wedding Day, or as I call a “Promise to your Pet”.  Have Shaggy Do walk down the aisle, be the dog of honor, ring bearer, or whatever cute involvement you can think of.  Hey, you can just have Scooby Do walk around and sniff everyone during your ceremony – “If you love me, love my dog”.  Just ensure there are no allergies.

Have a picture taken with Sparky the day of your wedding either before individually or as a couple or both.  I’ve seen all sorts of variations of this.  See my Pinterest Board, “Promise to your Pet” for photo ideas.

Offer guests dog treats to take home to their fur kid.  Although, you should probably add some human treats for those pup-less guests.  Not everyone loves dogs (what?).

Incorporate Sparky’s picture in the table numbers.

Have a Signature Drink designated during the Cocktail Hour named after Rocky, Ruby, Scooby Do, Sparky, or {insert your pup’s name here}.  Add a little humor and have the drink named “Ruff One”.

There are endless possibilities.  You can always do it beforehand and share your engagement news with a photo of Princess wearing  a sign “My Humans are getting Married”.  You can dedicate a song at your reception that reminds you of him/her.  You can ask for Donations in Lieu of Favors to a rescue organization or the Humane Society.  Another cute idea is to do a “dollar dance” with the proceeds going to your local animal shelter.

My absolute favorite idea is described in my blog post, Kitten Hour, although I’m not sure if they have a pet of their own or just love kitties.  Either way, this idea is AMAZING.
