Here are some really unique, alternative ideas for a guest book. Whatever chosen, consider “the future” of this alternative “book”. Will it be displayed in your home or on a shelf? Do you want to see it everyday or just take it out once in a while to admire? Have this in mind when making a choice.
I so wish that I had done one of these alternative ideas. Our guest book is in my memorabilia chest and I think I’ve opened it maybe twice in 18 years.
My favorite idea is LAST.
Signature Frame
Use a wide matte around desired picture.
Perhaps an engagement picture or a scenic picture that has meaning.
After you get your amazing wedding photos back, one can go in here.
Provide a few different colored fine sharpie pens or different
thicknesses of the same color (or both!).
Puzzle Pieces
There are many different variations of this:
shaped like a heart or tree, built around names,
shaped in large letters, and more.
Will you pull this out and put it together every now and then?
Polaroid Book
This is a neat option for capturing your guests that can be
admired for years to come. How fun would it be to take
it out every few years just to see how people have changed?
It’s always nice to look at pictures taken at such joyous events,
it brings out the best in people. Also, years down the road,
when some relatives are no longer here, it will be nice to have their
joy captured.
I sure wish I did this (thinking of my Mom in heaven).
Messages for the Couple
There are so many variations of this idea…
messages in a bottle, wishes to read on your one year anniversary,
date night ideas, bucket list suggestions, and the list goes on and on.
Choosing Words
This can be a word in the dictionary, scripture from the Bible
or a line of a poem. Other ideas include guests signing a page
in a comic book or choosing a lyric on pages of sheet music.
Perhaps even lines from Dr. Seuss books or pages of an atlas.
Use your imagination!
A Piece of Furniture
How about a bench, chair, cutting board….or set of oars?
