You know you’ve hit it big when you request your crush to be cast in a music video, YOUR music video. That is just what John Legend did in his 2006 video shoot of Stereo in which he asked Chrissy to be a part of. After being smitten with each other since then, John proposed to Chrissy in 2011 romantically on a beach in the Maldives.
Seven years after that infamous Stereo video, the couple exchanged their vows on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como at Villa Pizzo in front of 125 loved ones. This was a place near and dear to their heart as it was one of the places they first vacationed together.
Upon guest arrival, guests received a bottle of Proscecco with a white linen bag that read, “Cin Cin” (which means, ‘Cheers’ in Italian). All in attendance were also given small linen bags with cream rose petals to toss during the recessional. Chrissy had eight bridesmaids that all wore shades of blush with long peach ribbons in their bouquets.
Table settings had crystal clear hand blown tapered candle holders and floral baskets full with olive branches, hydrangeas, magnolias and ivy. The 4-tiered carrot cake was layered with cream cheese and raspberry sauce. The masterpiece was draped all around with eucalyptus and fresh flowers made by the AFM Banqueting Milano catering team
Being the Victoria Secret/Sports Illustrated fashion model that Chrissy is, she had not only one wedding gown, but three, and ALL of them were by designer Vera Wang. Wait, can I do mine again over again? I want three.
Chrissy’s 1st Gown was very princess-like and called the Vera Wang Karen Gown with a sweetheart neckline, delicate bead work in the bodice, and an ivory strapless open back with a very full ivory lifted tulle skirt. Her hair was romantically braided up.
Chrissy’s 2nd Gown – A Vera Wang mermaid style with a micro-pleated bodice and a sheared organza full skirt.
Chrissy’s 3rd Gown – also a Vera Wang mermaid style, but this one in scarlet red. At this point she took her hair down and was ready to party, John likewise.
John Legend took to the floor and serenaded his new wife with his hit, “All of Me” (which was written about her). Stevie Wonder also played a live version of “Ribbons In The Sky“. The dance floor filled up with tunes spun by the famous DJ, Biz Markie.
Where are they now?
Currently, the couple lives in Beverly Hills, California. They have two young children, Luna and Miles.
On September 10, 2018, Legend became the first African-American man ever to achieve EGOT status — that is, to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award.
